I say both. But being as most chaps sadly wish for only certain things from their suits then each depends on your needs and wants.
Simply put; if you want long lasting clothes then more is better and rotation is key. Your most worn item will die before all the others so rotate wisely and reap the rewards of great value and looking good, even though less luxuriously, for a long time.
If you want to dress with the best of the world then it is always getting the highest garments you can afford as they will boost your confidence o end in feeling alone. In suits and shirts you can tell the difference straight away between a well crafted item and a cheap high street. Shoes especially so.
So invest wisely and decide which you want more; the best feeling or the longest wearing.
Or do what I do and have both!
