Skyfall - James Bond
Daniel Craig
Probably the most talked about of the red carpet looks (apart from Bear Grylls). A subtle navy fancy weave with satin shawl lapels. White silk handkerchief puff fold

Skyfall - District3
He's a look at District 3's turn out for the Skyfall premiere on tuesday just gone. Now to given that they have been only in together and in the public eye for a little while it's not fair to expect they have anything proper for such events which isn't sourced, badly, for them. But there is no excuse to look so rubbish when you have supposedly professional experts send you stuff or at the very least dress you. Maybe they wanted their own twist and dressed themselves. Anyway, the overall is not good.
Greg - Pros: Best of the 3. Jacket looks good, trousers need a little shortening. Shoes ok. - Cons: shirt. Drags focus away from the overall look which is ok looks silly. Apart from shirt is ok but nothing special. 6/10Dan - Pros: can't think of any. Even his bow tie is crooked. - Cons: Everything. bow tie not on straight, and probably meant too, collar of shirt is huge and actually overlapping the jacket lapel, jacket is too short, but that is not helped by the childish and supposed fashion of wearing trousers under the arse cheeks. Looks so dumb, like you cannot dress yourself. 4/10
Mickey - Pros: not bad fitting. - Cons: Not a dinner jacket, is a 3 piece, jacket short, trousers dong dumb arse thing too. 5/10

Skyfall - Chris Evans,

Chris - Pros: The colour really suits him and his personality. - Cons: It's BLUE. Like something different for occasions but so many better options. Midnight blue might have worked but still stood out. There are times to break the rules and other times when a bend is more appropriate. Doubt he will care though.
Skyfall - JLS
Dressed To Kill
So random and so awful looking. Each look doesn't combine well as a whole. There are a few items that could have been part of a great look.
Marvin - Pros: great shoes. Love to know where they are from. Look velvet to me from the picture. - Cons: everything else. Skinny tie makes his head look huuuge! Skinny lapel does the same atrociousness as the tie. Put him in a 3" shawl or notch satin lapel and a velvet bow tie and the look would transform. 5/10
Aston - Pros: The velvet jacket is delicious. Notch lapel works and even works with the shirt and tie, though I think the shirt collar could be a little less narrow. Shoes fine. - Cons: but what is going on with the trousers? Skinny trouser bottoms with an extra 3" of fabric seem bizarre at best. Best of the lot. 7/10
Ortise - Pros: looks the best fitting and is very classic. Shirt collar suits the look. Skinny tie is alright with the 3 piece. Cons: but the 3 piece does not work for the occasion. Looks office suitish rather than formal evening. Also trainers just look dumb rather than quirky as those glasses manage to achieve where the trainers don't.
JB - Pros: less said the better. - Cons: shoes, terrible (what the hell? The next in line to the throne is here. Have some class). Leather shawl lapel???? Good lord.

Skyfall - Bear Grylls & Stephen Fry
James Bond's latest adventure is here and Daniel Craig steps up to take a third crack at Ian Fleming's 007. The Queens special secret agent with licence to kill has just recently come out. A lot of our clients attended the premiere and we made sure they were in the best of the best of Dinner Jacket ensemble to impress and delight as the bulbs flashed around them endlessly. Skyfall would seem to be a hit already by the packed out cinemas, and with a $200 million production, which is decidedly de regur in todays major box office world, it will most likely make most of that back this weekend.
Below is the start of the action. And I'm going to point out some highs and some very lows, but will have to spread over a few days as there is really so much here as to dos and donts regarding what you wear when if you want to stand out for the right reasons.
First up is Bear Grylls. Bear, you may be able to survive the icy glaciers of the north, or the sun blanched deserts along the equator with nothing more than your resolve and a sharp stick but my word how you died before you even turned up on the red carpet at the Albert Hall on tuesday 23rd (this being the 23rd film in the Bond series).
Advice to all out there. Don't do this if you wish to look good. Bear probably won't care and I'm sure it won't do his career any harm whatsoever so he can have fun, but if you care about looking good, and lets be honest you probably do if you're reading this, then be so out there that you resemble a jester or clown is not a good thing.
Bear, if you had wanted to look good then hire someone to advise on future events.
One of my style meccahs is Stephen Fry and to see him looking very classic and elegant. Seeing im play Malvolio next week.

Dinner Jacket Styles (Tuxedo for the stateside gent)
Having a well fitted and tailored DJ is one of the perks of life. I was talking this morning with a client who has only a few events per year that he will need one for but like many gents simply hates the fit and feel of his current off the peg one. And when you get to these events it is nothing short of wonderful when you know that you are looking among the finest dressed there.
This is how It may feel like to be Bond. Not joking! I have two events per year that require a black tie. And every time I wear my wonderfully tailored Dinner Jacket (Tuxedo) I feel like the 007 agent looking suave and luxurious as I approach the convention bar and order....a coke. Not a Martini sadly.
And mostly I am dressed as well as my wife who has spent ages on her outfit. I didn't but it made her so happy that I looked as if I had.
So below are some simply styles that you can do. I know many clients and gents who wish for something more out there but I always advocate having the foundation first. Then branch out once you have your grounding.
The above picture shows more the American style of Tuxedo with the adding of a formal waistcoat. This look is a little dated and am advising most clients stateside that they can really look crisp with just the simply jacket, trouser and bow tie combo. There's a reason why Bond should never wera a waistcoat...it just isn't that cool. But if you wish to please go ahead it isn't badly dressed, I just think you could look much sharper like this:
Isn't that just gorgeous. Something about the simplicity makes the wearer seem much better dressed and sharper. I would still wear a bow tie with the outfit but don't see anything wrong with the adding of a slim-medium width black silk tie.
Styles:
Here are three classic styles. All are wearable and in fashion although the most classic and long lasting is the 2nd jacket model number 31 as it is single breasted and a notch lapel. The double breasted is in fashion and will look killer but may be out of style in 2 years so this is maybe to try after you have the first classic just mentioned.
The peak on model 32 is classic too but can come and go a bit more than the notch lapel ever will so my advice is for the notch first time round. The dinner jacket above has a single breasted peak.
Jacket model 33 shows a shawl lapel. This again is not common so may make your Dinner Jacket (Tuxedo) slightly out of date and as this may need to be worn to all kinds of events then a notch lapel is more versatile.
Model 34 is a white evening jacket and normally worn on cruises and summer events in the states but is rarer in Europe.
And lastly the trousers. Worm as wished but with satin trim down the sides.
Hope helps and do contact with any questions.
